Presidio Dance Theatre is widely recognized for Melania’s signature style of Ethno-Classical Ballet. Our repertoire of full- length original productions includes Beyond the Land of Sweets™ ; The Little Lantern Ballet®; and Dancing Across Cultures™. We also present commissioned new work in collaboration with various national and international organizations. Our company is comprised of 90% native artists, reflecting underrepresented cultures. Each individual shares his or her culture, adding to our collective wisdom. Our New Works Series focuses on women’s empowerment, putting women’s stories back into history and examining gender roles throughout the ages.

The Little Lantern Ballet©

The Little Lantern Ballet® explores how collaboration, despite gender, social standing or pre-existing borders, transcends difficult circumstances, and creates a sense of unity. The Little Lantern Ballet® is a co-production of PDT, Zawaya, and the Assyrian Aid Society, with the permission of the Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation. The fusion of Near & Middle Eastern folkloric music and dance, with classical ballet has thrilled audiences since its premiere in 2014.

Dancing Across Cultures™

A perfect exposé of San Francisco’s enchanting multi-cultural mosaic. It provides not only an artistic bridge, but also an emotional bridge to diverse worlds that audiences can easily dance across. The richly diverse show promotes cultural awareness and tolerance. Audience members are delighted by the fast-paced production, elaborate costumes, and opportunity to “experience the world, from the joy of their seats.” Dancing Across Cultures™ is annually presented all around the SF Bay Area.

CHILDREN'S DAY AT THE SAN FRANCISCO WAR MEMORIAL OPERA HOUSE

Children's Day at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House is our most exciting outreach program initiative. We annually provide two free performances, featuring excerpts from Dancing Across Cultures, for Bay Area students. We annually welcome an enthusiastic intergenerational audience of 6,200 local students, teachers, seniors, and arts professionals to the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House for these performances. For many students this is their only arts related filed trip for the ent
